Recruit a Guide connects you to nature guides, culture guides, adventure guides, lodge managers and management couples from all over Southern Africa and allows you to get to know them through a short, guided video bio. Our streamlined filtering methods keeps the transparency of your applicants high while keeping the costs and time-taken low. You will only receive applications from guides who meet the requirements that you set.

Studies have shown that more than 70% of communication is done through body language. Video allows you to get a sense of WHO the person is that you’re considering and whether they will fit into your company culture and team ethos.

You can purchase job post credits for freelance or permanent positions from your profile on the Recruit a Guide platform. Each job post uses one credit of the relevant type.

We try to encompass every type of guide that there is, within the borders of Southern Africa, under 5 main categories – Culture Guides, Nature Guides, Adventure Guides, Lodge Managers, and Management Couples.

When you invite a candidate you are sending them a request to apply for a particular job. This will give them the opportunity to decide whether or not they are willing and able to complete the work you require.

No. If an applicant accepts your invitation to apply for a job, you can then shortlist them. After shortlisting all suitable candidates, you can make your final decision and hire the best applicant.

No. The app is completely free and there are no charges when applying for jobs.

Nowadays, studies show that personality and attitude plays a larger role in an employer’s decision to hire than a qualification does. No specific type of personality is better or worse, but it’s important to highlight the type of person you are so an employer can best gauge whether you will be a good fit into their company culture and team ethos.

We give you tips on everything you need to know, including suggested talking points, on the app itself. You can find our tips under the “Video Bio” section of your profile.

When active, your profile is visible to all employers if you meet their requirements.

You can set your profile to inactive from the app. When your profile is inactive, you won’t be visible to employers.

Employers choose the required qualifications needed for the job, which means every job is different. Focus on selecting the qualifications that you have and uploading the appropriate documentation to prove it.

We try to encompass every type of guide that there is, within the borders of Southern Africa, under 5 main categories – Culture Guides, Nature Guides, Adventure Guides, Lodge Managers, and Management Couples.

Once you’ve completed at least 70% of your profile, it will be live immediately and you will be visible to employers. We, however, suggest completing 100% of your profile to make yourself a more desirable candidate.

This comes down to personal preference. Your video bio is about showing who you are and there are no right or wrong answers. We do have examples of talking points that we would recommend using if you’re stuck. These can be found under the “Video Bio” section of your profile.

Yes. If you feel more comfortable using a different method, we would recommend it. This is about you presenting the best version of yourself. Use whichever method allows you to achieve that.

Yes, we recommend using earphones with a microphone for a clearer sounding result.
